Hazelnut Latte Public Demo - Episode 1

Hello everyone, and Happy 4 Year Anniversary of Hazelnut Latte!

On October 19th, 2022, we uploaded the very first build of Hazelnut Latte! Over the past 4 years, the game has taken many twists and turns. What started as a short, horny game blossomed into a full development effort to create an ambitious visual novel dating sim.

We learned a lot in this time, and this new public demo is the culmination of those experiences. For those who don't know, back in March 2025 we decided to switch game engines, from the visual novel game engine Ren'Py to the more versatile Unity engine. Then, in September 2025, we announced that this big move to Unity would mean restarting development, including the story.

Much of the game's early development was us making things up as we went along and figuring it out in real time. Now, with more experience under our belt and a better understanding of how to make a game and tell the story we want, we present the new, improved, and expanded Episode 1!

Our original Episode 1 was 7,678 words, whereas the new Episode 1 is 37,800 words. This is a massive change not only to the story, but also to how we present the game! This isn't a simple copy-paste from the old Ren'Py builds, but a true restart.

To reflect the massive changes to the game and the story, we are releasing a new free, public demo on our 4 Year Anniversary!

This demo will receive occasional updates as we improve features, but no new content. This demo will always be Episode 1, but it's a beefy episode with 2.5 hours of content to enjoy across different routes! We also want to keep this demo updated so you can safely transfer your saves from the demo to the latest paid build.

For now, the demo will include 18+ content, but in the future we will remove it and include it in a free patch. This is because Steam has been giving us trouble, so we will eventually release the game as an SFW game. You can read all about it here.
